Seat Selection

Seat selection fees vary according to demand and flight schedules.

To secure your selected seat, we recommend completing check-in at the airport check-in counter at least one hour and thirty minutes before your flight’s scheduled departure (Airport Check-in). If you arrive after this time, we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request; however, we cannot guarantee that your pre-assigned seat will remain available. Passengers who fail to meet this deadline may have their seats reassigned, subject to operational requirements. Refund requests and seat reassignments will be handled in accordance with our policies.

Paid Seat Categories

• Extra-legroom seats, including bulkhead seats and emergency exit seats.
• Preferred seats.
• Standard seats.

Eligibility

Paid seat selection is available only on flights operated by Royal Jordanian Airlines.

• Seat Changes

It may not be possible to retain a pre-selected seat for safety, security, or operational reasons, including an aircraft change. In such circumstances, Royal Jordanian Airlines will make reasonable efforts to assign the most suitable alternative seat, subject to seat availability.

If the aircraft or aircraft type is changed, Royal Jordanian will endeavour to reassign the passenger to a seat within the original seat category and with identical or similar features, subject to the configuration of the replacement aircraft and seat availability. The reassigned seat may be in a different row or location, including a change from a window seat to an aisle or middle seat. Refund requests arising from such changes are subject to the Seat Fee Refund Policy set out in these Terms and Conditions.

Where a passenger requests a seat change, selection is limited to available seats within the same category and with the same features. Any additional amount payable will be calculated as the difference between the original seat fee and the applicable seat fee in effect at the time of the change. If the replacement seat carries a lower fee, the difference will not be refunded.

In the event of an involuntary flight change, an aircraft change or an operational disruption requiring the passenger to be rebooked on an alternative flight, the seat assignment may be transferred to the alternative flight where possible, subject to seat availability. Refund requests where the seat assignment cannot be transferred are subject to the Seat Fee Refund Policy set out in these Terms and Conditions.

The seat selection service is available solely to the passenger in whose name it was purchased and for the flight specified at the time of purchase, subject to the provisions of this section concerning the transfer of a seat assignment to an alternative flight and the use of the Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) following a ticket upgrade.

If the passenger’s ticket is upgraded to a higher cabin class, the Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) associated with the seat selection service will remain valid for one year from its date of issue. It may be used for the same passenger on future bookings that satisfy the applicable eligibility requirements, subject to the terms and conditions governing its use.

• Emergency Exit Seats

Safety and Security Come First

To occupy an emergency exit seat, a passenger must be physically and mentally capable of assisting the crew in an emergency.

Important: Check-in staff, airport reception staff and cabin crew retain full authority to reassign a passenger to a non-exit seat if the passenger does not meet the applicable requirements.

Passengers Ineligible for Emergency Exit Seats

• Passengers under 15 years of age.
• Passengers with a physical or mental disability that affects their ability to move quickly in an emergency.
• Passengers who are blind or deaf, whether or not accompanied by a guide dog or hearing assistance dog.
• Elderly passengers or passengers who are ill and may have difficulty moving quickly.
• Passengers who are physically unable to move quickly, reach the adjacent emergency exit or pass through it.
• Pregnant passengers.
• Children, whether accompanied by an adult or unaccompanied, and infants.
• Passengers refused entry to the country of destination (inadmissible passengers), deportees and their escorts.
• Passengers using child restraint devices. Such devices must not be placed in an emergency exit row or in the row immediately in front of or behind an emergency exit row.
• Adult passengers travelling with children, infants or pets in the cabin.
• Passengers unwilling to assist in an emergency.
• Passengers unable to read English sufficiently to understand the instructions printed on the emergency exit door, or unable to follow hand signals or verbal instructions issued by the cabin crew.

Seat Fee Refund Policy

• Royal Jordanian Airlines retains sole discretion to determine whether a passenger meets the requirements for occupying an emergency exit seat.
• Passengers who do not meet those requirements will be assigned an alternative seat. Fees paid for emergency exit seats are non-refundable.
• Seat selection fees are non-refundable where the passenger voluntarily cancels the seat selection service.
• If a passenger voluntarily changes to a seat with a higher fee, the difference in fees will be charged. If the new seat carries a lower fee, the difference will not be refunded.
• Passengers whose seats are changed involuntarily before the flight may submit a refund request through the call centre, Royal Jordanian sales offices or the original purchase channel.
• Passengers who purchase seat selection and subsequently upgrade to Business Class or a higher cabin class are not entitled to a refund of the seat selection fee.
• Refund requests must be submitted within 48 hours of the operational disruption.
• Seat selection fees for seats purchased through third-party agencies are non-refundable.
• Passengers must complete check-in at least one hour and thirty minutes before departure to secure their selected seats. Passengers arriving after this deadline may have their seats reassigned without a refund.

Additional Terms

• Seat selection fees are subject to change according to availability, demand and operational requirements.
• Royal Club members and passengers travelling in a higher cabin class may receive priority in seat selection, subject to availability.
• Royal Jordanian is not liable for inconvenience or losses arising from seat reassignment for operational, security or safety reasons.
• Royal Jordanian reserves the right to reassess a passenger’s eligibility for an emergency exit seat at any time before departure.
• By purchasing the seat selection service, the passenger acknowledges and agrees to the terms and conditions set out in this policy.
