Tree of Al Buqayawiyya (The Blessed Tree)

Walk and Rest Along Ancient Sacred Footsteps

Also known as the Sahabi Tree or "The Blessed Tree," this solitary pistachio tree has stood for 1400 years, offering solace to travelers along the ancient trade route connecting Mecca and Damascus. It is believed to be the very tree beneath which the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought refuge and rest as a young boy, journeying with his uncle to Syria. During this expedition, the monk Buhira discerned the signs of future prophethood in the young boy (pbuh) and cautioned his uncle to safeguard him. Nearby, remnants of an old Roman road are visible, tracing the path once taken by the caravan of the Prophet (pbuh) and his uncle from Mecca to Damascus.
