IATA renews RJ™s IOSA and ISAGO certificates

The airline obtains the IOSA certificate for the fourth time since it first acquired it in 2004, whereas the ISAGO certificate is now renewed for the first time.
RJ President/CEO Hussein Dabbas, who received the IOSA certificate from Dr. Majdi Sabri, regional vice president for IATA in the Middle East and North Africa, said that the audit concluded without finding any irregularity.
This achievement reflects the company’s effectiveness, especially in the operational departments, which function with the highest degree of accuracy and discipline, and apply international practices to assure a distinguished level of air and ground safety.
Sabri stressed that safety is at the top of the pyramid of priorities, and expressed satisfaction with the fact that the IOSA team managed to successfully complete the audit process. It is evidence of the company’s commitment to ensure the safety of its operations and thus enhance RJ’s competitiveness in the region.
Executive Assistant/Corporate Quality Management at RJ, Abed Latif Elayyan, pointed out that the audit, which was carried out in the period September 26-30, 2010, found that all 872 demands required for the renewal were met. The audit was conducted in the air operation, engineering and maintenance, air services, airport services, cargo, safety and security, human resources, and quality assurance departments, and at the operations control center. The IOSA certificate is effective until the end of 2012.
Improved quality standards, reduced cost and high awareness are some ISAGO benefits to the airline IATA also successfully renewed the ISAGO certification for the first time since it was awarded to RJ in 2008. It followed the completion of a comprehensive audit of all ground-handling operations at Queen Alia International Airport, conducted between September 20 and 23, 2010.
Elayyan said that the audit process at the airport involved seven major sections that deal with ground handling: the station management system, passenger and baggage handling, load control, aircraft handling & loading, aircraft ground movement and cargo & mail handling.
The headquarters audit inspected the organizational systems and documentation, making sure that the airline safety func-tions are performed in conformity with the latest industry operational practices.
He added that the audit process is built around a set of harmonized, internationally recognized, standards and accepted system for assessing the operational management and control systems of the Ground Service Provider.
ISAGO offers benefits to airlines, among which, safer ground operations, fewer accidents and injuries, elimination of redundant audits, reduced costs, less damage and fewer audits, a uniform audit process and harmonized standards, improved safety oversight, harmonized auditor training and qualifications, improved quality standards, and enhanced understanding of high-risk areas within ground operations.
Obtaining the ISAGO registration reflects IATA’s recognition of RJ’s commitment to ground safety program and system, and the airline’s attention to safety.
Elayyan concluded that the improvement in safety and security on board and on the ground, in addition to the growing awareness of the employees in this area and taking the right procedures contribute to boosting passengers’ trust in the airline.
