Royal Jordanian celebrates International Womens Day
Mar 09, 2012 - Amman
At the ceremony, Dabbas said that the International Women's Day is a landmark in the working women's long march to emancipation. He expressed appreciation for the women's active role and positive inputs in developing and serving the community, pointing to the fundamental role Jordanian women play in various business sectors.
The president greeted all female workers in and outside the kingdom on this occasion, praising their unrelented efforts since the establishment of the airline, nearly 50 years ago. He pointed out that women had a key role in all areas of the aviation industry. Men and women, together, made the company what it is today, a world-class airline.
He said that at RJ, women played dynamic, major roles in all fields, holding even the toughest and most challenging positions, such as pilots, aviation engineers, air hostesses, air cargo, airport services and ramp employees, and many others. Many other women were equally efficient and qualified to occupy advanced positions in the top management and proved their success.
Dabbas said Royal Jordanian is always concerned with the working women affairs, granting them all the rights stipulated in the Jordanian labor law, striving to provide them with an adequate working environment, generally allowing them to grow in their career path.
Women are also members in unions, and recent years witnessed the formation of the Women's Committee of the General Union of Air Transport and Tourism, which plays a great role in helping women employees communicate and informs them to their rights and responsibilities.
