RJ concludes Ramadan campaign with iftar banquet at ‘Mawaed Alrahman’ alongside Tkiyet Um Ali

Jun 13, 2018

A team of RJ volunteers participated in dishing out and serving iftar meals to more than 1,600 underprivileged people.

At the beginning of this Ramadan, Royal Jordanian signed a partnership agreement with Tkiyet Um Ali charity organization, whereby RJ sponsors 50 families from among Tkiyet Um Ali beneficiaries, from different parts of the kingdom, all year round, providing them with monthly food parcels.

RJ also held two iftar banquets for hundreds of orphans in the care of different associations in Jordan: 200 orphans were invited by RJ for iftar at the Children’s Museum/Jordan and 100 others were hosted for iftar at one of Amman restaurants.

These initiatives were meant to bring some joy in the life of the children and their families who expressed appreciation for the Royal Jordanian's continuous support and initiatives during Ramadan and all year round.

RJ President/CEO Stefan Pichler commended the staff who volunteered to help with the different goodwill initiatives, saying that “this reflects the positive role of the Jordanian community members. We will continue to support Tkiyet Um Ali’s endeavors to fight poverty and help the beneficiaries of these charity programs achieve sustainable food security, in line with RJ’s national role and commitment to contribute to the community service and development.”

Tkiyet Um Ali Director General Samer Balkar thanked RJ for its collaboration with the charity association and its support for its initiatives, particularly the employees who volunteer for the different activities it holds.

He said: "RJ’s contribution in support of the food program helping needy families for a whole year is something we commend. Tkiyet Um Ali believes in the importance of its partnerships with organizations from the private sector, which help us achieve our mission of arriving at a poverty-free Jordan by providing food support to the underprivileged beneficiary families across the kingdom.”

Tkiyet Um Ali currently provides food support for 30,000 needy families who fall under the poverty line in 12 different governorates in Jordan; it distributes food parcels containing 22 nutritional ingredients on monthly basis, sufficient to cover the families’ needs for a whole month, all year round.
