Royal Jordanian cooperates with the Charity Clothing Bank

Feb 17, 2014 - Amman

The airline also donated 7,000 uniform pieces that are not used anymore to benefit people in need.

Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) Secretary General Ayman Mifleh expressed gratitude to Royal Jordanian for this initiative that aims to support the Charity Clothing Bank project. He also expressed appreciation for the various activities that RJ held throughout the years in corporation with the JHCO to strengthen the charitable efforts of this organization inside and outside Jordan.

Mifleh visited RJ President/CEO Amer Hadidi and said that the support provided by the airline will contribute to clothing many people in need; he pointed to RJ’s leading role in serving the local society since its establishment 50 years ago as a national company that employs thousands of Jordanians.

He said that the Charity Clothing Bank has managed, since its inception in the fourth quarter of 2013, to clothe around 11,000 underprivileged, and that the bank has adopted a plan to clothe 25,000 needy people from all governorates during 2014. Mifleh added that the bank relies on the National Aid Fund to provide lists of names of Jordanian families in need that are eligible for help from the Charity Clothing Bank.

Hadidi expressed delight in the continued cooperation between RJ and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation and said that RJ’s initiative to support the Charity Clothing Bank is in a line with its constant interaction with the local community as part of its national duty and the ethos of social corporate responsibility that makes it cater to the needs of the less fortunate.

He stressed that RJ has a yearly charitable plan through which the airline distributes aid, food, clothing and medical devices to the less privileged, to orphans and to elderly people.

The RJ president said that during its first such activity, the airline donated thousands of uniform pieces the employees could not wear anymore to many needy families across the Kingdom. Hadidi pointed out that the airline urges its employees to volunteer to assist in sorting out clothes and to participate in the Charity Clothing Bank’s activities.

Launched by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), the Charity Clothing Bank, located downtown Amman, is a 6,000-square-meter structure, the largest of its kind in the region.

It receives new and used clothes in good condition that are classified according to specific criteria. The bank allows volunteers to assist in sorting clothes, organise the showroom and perform various other activities.
