Royal Jordanian offers discounts to attract tourists to Jordan

Mar 29, 2015 - Amman

Acting President/CEO Captain Haitham Misto pointed out that this initiative came in response to His Majesty King Abdullah recent instructions to the tourism sector; he called upon those concerned to stress Jordan’s distinguishing qualities, such as security and stability, and take advantage of Jordan’s potential, and work to strengthen it, in order to improve tourism to the kingdom, from the region and the world.

The King urged the sector to come up with creative initiatives in order to attract tourists and investment, highlighting the diversity and richness of the Jordanian tourism product.

Captain Misto said that discounted prices are offered to the incoming tour operators bringing tourists to Jordan who will use Royal Jordanian prices in integrated tourist programs as a package with accommodation, restaurants, transportation and monument entries, to encourage groups to visit the kingdom.

He stressed that these affordable prices will contribute in collaboration with the incoming tour operators to bring tourists in the country, bolstering the efforts of concerned sectors, foremost among them the Ministry of Tourism and the Jordan Tourism Board. Jordan offers a wide range of tourism: leisure, medical, religious or conferences tourism.

Misto highlighted the leading role played by Royal Jordanian in marketing Jordan abroad through its different programs and sales offices distributed all over the world.

He also said that Royal Jordanian recently offered Jordan Tourism Board 140 free tickets to invite international media representatives and global TV channels to visit the kingdom and highlight its security and stability, and the diversity of its tourism product during the different seasons, in addition to Royal Jordanian’s role in supporting social media and bloggers that promote Jordan abroad.

Misto said that since ever since its foundation, Royal Jordanian has constantly participated in various Arab and international tourism fairs along with the Jordan Tourism Board and other tourism sectors, like in the Berlin, Moscow, Dubai, London and Spain fairs, among others, in additions to sponsoring most of the conferences and activities held in Jordan.

He also underlined the efforts exerted by the company now, in the context of transit tourism, to encourage Royal Jordanian passengers transiting through Queen Alia International Airport to visit nearby attractions for short periods, thus giving them a taste of Jordan and encouraging them to plan for longer journey in the future.

Misto also highlighted Royal Jordanian’s role in serving tourism in Aqaba through the many daily flights between Queen Alia Airport and King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba for reasonable fares.

This, and the flexible flight schedules, aims to enhance tourism and the investments in Aqaba Economic Zone, and to suit the tourists’ programs, thus lending support to Aqaba’s tourism sector.
