Royal Jordanian crowned with prestigious award at the 2017 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity

Jul 02, 2017 - Amman

The accolade was received in June in Cannes, France as part of the Festival’s awards ceremony, which also saw the shortlisting of Royal Jordanian’s Fear of Flying video.

The triumph of the airline at the Festival came as a direct result of Royal Jordanian’s latest communication strategy, which saw the launch of a satirical campaign regarding the US Elections campaign promise banning certain nationals from entering the United States prior to Trump’s election. Launched in November, the online campaign featured special fares to the United States during the election period and resulted in an unprecedented viral spread of the campaign, which was picked up by global media, most notably CNN, NBC and MailOnline.

Stefan Pichler, President/Chief Executive Officer of Royal Jordanian, stated: “Today’s endorsement reaffirms the effectiveness of our latest strategy, which is a great acknowledgment not only to the capabilities we possess but also to the capabilities the Kingdom has to offer. Royal Jordanian is and will always be honored to represent Jordan and Jordanians across the globe.” He continued: “Our latest strategy intertwined with our creative agency’s vision resulted in an impressive communication strategy which garnered huge international acclaim and an award that is considered the first of its kind for Jordan. Together with them, we look forward to further innovation and great achievements.”

On his part, Mohammad Kamal, Managing Director of Memac Ogilvy Advize, stated, “We pride ourselves in our partnership with Royal Jordanian, whose courageous and daring vision enabled us to create such an unconventional marketing campaign. Royal Jordanian’s trust in us empowered us to seek an unprecedented method in advertising, creating the ‘US Elections campaign and others like it that we have launched since.”

It is worth mentioning that the US Elections campaign has also won a plethora of accolades including Dubai Lynx PR Grand Prix and PR gold award, Dubai Lynx Promo & Activation Gold award, Dubai Lynx Direct silver award in addition to winning the Sabre PR Gold award in London.
