oneworld honoured as ‘best airline alliance’ twice over - again

Dec 05, 2017

  • Global Traveler’s GT Tested Reader Survey winner for eighth year running
  • Business Traveler North America’s recipient for third consecutive year
  • Confirms oneworld’s standing as most highly prized airline alliance globally

oneworld® has won two more Best Airline Alliance awards, confirming its standing as the world’s most highly prized global airline alliance. These latest accolades come in independent surveys conducted by two leading USA-based magazines for regular flyers.

oneworld was named Best Airline Alliance, for the eighth year running, by Global Traveler in its 2017 GT Tested Reader Survey.

And for the third consecutive year, oneworld was also judged Best Airline Alliance in Business Traveler North America’s 2017 Best in Business Travel Awards.

oneworld is also the current holder of four other Best Airline Alliance awards:

  • FlightStats’ Airline Alliance On-Time Performance Service Award, for the fourth year running.
  • Business Traveller UK’s Best Airline Alliance for the fifth year in a row.
  • Trazees’ Favorite Airline Alliance, for the second time.
  • World Travel Awards’ World’s Leading Airline Alliance 2016 for the 14th year running.

This means that oneworld now holds twice as many Best Airline Alliance honours as both other global airline alliances combined.

Of its latest success in the Global Traveler awards, the magazine’s CEO and Publisher Francis X Gallagher said:  "It is very impressive to have a brand like oneworld take a GT Tested award for Best Airline Alliance for eight consecutive years - very few winners have been able to achieve this honour. The airlines that comprise this brand represent some of the finest flying in comfort and style."

In the Global Traveler awards, American Airlines was selected as the magazine’s 2017 Airline of the Year.  American also took three GT Tested Reader Survey Awards - for Best Airline Website, Best Airline for Domestic First Class, and Fastest-Growing Airline Transpacific.

Qatar Airways received three Global Traveler GT Tested Reader Survey Awards, as Best International First Class, Best First Class Seat Design and Best Airline in the Middle East, all three for second year running.

Japan Airlines was honoured twice – as Best Transpacific Airline, and Best Airline to Japan. Meantime, LATAM was judged Best Airline to South America for fourth year running.

In the Business Traveler North America 2017 Best in Business Travel Awards, Qatar Airways was honoured as Best Airline in the World for International Travel, Best Business Class Service in the World and also Best Business Class to the Middle East.

British Airways was Best Airline in Western Europe, LATAM Best Business Class to South/Latin America, and Qantas Best Business Class to Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific.
