RJ sponsors 50 families for an entire year, in collaboration with Tkiyet Um Ali; starts Ramadan goodwill campaign with parcel distribution in Zarqa

May 23, 2018

May 23, 2018, Amman – May 22 was the first day such parcels started being distributed, this time to some underprivileged families from Zarqa Governorate.

According to the agreement, RJ will also sponsor one day of “Mawaed Al Rahman” iftar banquets, which Tkiyet Um Ali holds every Ramadan. This time, some 1,500 individuals will be fed at the charity premises in Al Mahatta area/Amman. RJ volunteers will serve iftar meals to these beneficiaries.

The agreement, signed by RJ President/CEO Stefan Pichler and Tkiyet Um Ali Director General Samer Balkar, supports the organization’s pursuit to fight hunger and help the needy beneficiaries of Tkiyet Um Ali achieve sustainable food security. It also reflects RJ’s national role and its social responsibility to serve the local society.

Pichler expressed satisfaction with Royal Jordanian's social partnerships, whose goal is to help society. RJ chose to start this campaign during the Holy Month of Ramadan, to help ease the financial burden on the targeted families. The families, whose monthly net income reaches JD20 (or less) for each individual, are entitled to receive food aid.

Pichler said that this latest agreement is testimony to Royal Jordanian's belief in the need to interact with the local community as part of its national duty and its social responsibility toward the underprivileged, and stressed that social responsibility is an essential element of the company's mission and values.

Balkar thanked Royal Jordanian for its cooperation with Tkiyet Um Ali and the airline’s support for the programs and activities of the charity organization.

He said that Tkiyet Um Ali believes it is important to partner with private sector institutions to achieve its vision of a hunger-free Jordan, an endeavor helped by the provision of food support to beneficiary families that live below the poverty line.

RJ will organize, in cooperation with other charitable organizations, several other iftars for hundreds of orphaned children and will distribute Eid clothing during the month of Ramadan.

Tkiyet Um Ali currently provides sustainable food support to 30,000 needy families that fall under the poverty line in 12 governorates in Jordan, by offering them monthly food parcels.
